Calendar of Events 2010-2011

All regular meetings are held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 867 North Pleasant Street, Amherst, from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm on the second Sunday of the month (except where noted with an asterisk). Workshops are normally held at another location. Information will be given at workshop sign-up.

Non-member fee is $1.00 per meeting and $5.00 per meeting when there is a guest speaker.

NOTE: In the event of inclement weather, the Guild President will decide by 9:00 a.m. of that morning whether or not to hold a meeting. A cancellation will be announced on NEWS40 Storm Trackers WGGB-TV and on this website.

2010 September Sunday 9/12	Join us for the first meeting of the year. Bring projects you've been working on for Show & Tell. Bring blocks for the summer challenge competition!
October Sunday, 10/17	Be with us at the guild meeting for Nancy Halpern's lecture, "Nancy On Nancy." An artist, Nancy Halpern has exhibited her contemporary quilts worldwide, published several books and taught quilt making for over twenty years.
November Sunday, 11/14	Elizabeth Rosenberg will be discuss quilts from "The Goddess Project" and show some additional original quilts in a trunk show and lecture.
December Sunday, 12/12	Join us for our annual Holiday Celebration, including the famous Dessert Buffet! Bring a dessert for the buffet table and your latest quilting project for Show & Tell. We will have an optional gift exchange - bring a quilt-related gift (under $10, please)
2011 January Sunday, 1/9	Today we'll hear Holice Turnbow focus on creativity and see some of his special quilts. Holice is a well-known quilt judge and hand quilter and will spice up your weekend with his bon mots and quilt tips.
February Saturday, 2/12*	Community Projects Weekend! Bring your sewing machine, to S. Congregational Church, Amherst and stay for several hours or just one hour to join in making quilts for community agencies. It's fun, it's worthwhile! The more the merrier - the more sewers, the more quilts to give!
February Saturday, 2/12	Second day of Community Projects Let's finish all those quilt tops sewn and basted on Saturday. You'll be amazed to see the quilts that were finished on Saturday!!
March Saturday 3/26, Sunday, 3/27	Biennial HAVQG Quilt Show at The Clarion Hotel, Route 5, Northampton.
April Sunday, 4/10	Jackie Paton from Merrimack, NH will present her trunk show and tell us about her special technique called "stencilscaping." Her quilts depict very personal experiences with family and New England.
May Saturday, 5/14*	"Petal Play" with Joan Shay. Come for a really fun workshop day while learning a new technique "Appli-Bond," using interfacing to make 3D shapes for your quilts.
Sunday 5/15	Joan Shay, a nationally known quilter, will present a lecture and trunk show, discuss her 3-D "Appli-Bond" technique and bring lots of samples and quilts to share. Don't miss this opportunity for inspiration!
June Sunday, 6/12	Join us for our Potluck Luncheon - bring your favorite appetizer, casserole, or dessert. Plan on a delicious lunch and also bring your latest quilting project for a wonderful end-of-the-year Show & Tell!.

Workshop Policy Guild Policy regarding workshops is that half of the fee must be paid when enrolling. Space is not reserved until half of the fee is paid. Once enrolled in a workshop, if you decide to cancel, you are responsible for finding someone else to take your space. Remaining fees are payable the day of the workshop. Please contact us for additional information.
