It takes our guild two years of preparation to have our raffle quilt ready for our quilt show.
A committee prepares and presents possible designs to the guild and members vote for their favorite design. Block kits are distributed to the members to make the quilt blocks. Completed blocks are returned and a smaller group assembles the quilt top. After the top is assembled, it is quilted. Although it is very hard to part with it, we do know that whoever receives it will treasure it.
Prior to the show, the raffle quilt visits many shops and venues where raffle tickets are available for purchase. Guild members also have raffle tickets to sell before the show. Show attendees have the opportunity to see the quilt in person and purchase tickets prior to the drawing on Sunday afternoon. The winner need not be present to win!
The proceeds from the ticket sales for the raffle quilt are donated to charities selected by the membership of the guild. In the past donations have been made to the New England Quilt Museum and local hospice organizations.
