We are very excited to bring internationally award winning quilt maker, designer and teacher, Esterita Austin, to our guild in October 2011. The use of textural and dimensional imagery has given Esterita's work unique style. She brings creative energy to all of her workshops and will be offering two different full day workshops. Sign up for one or both!
Workshop I: Creating the Illusion of Depth
Description: In this workshop you'll train your eye and sharpen your design ability. Learn how to create the illusion of depth by working with three design elements: perspective, value and light source. You'll learn an easy, no fail, technique of fusing. There is no accuracy with seam allowances, no points to match and no sewing machines. This is a loose technique that allows for greater freedom in construction. Build your confidence to go beyond the quilt surface into its visual depth.

Workshop I: Painting for Illusion
Description: Don't have the right fabric? Pieces not blending together well? Need a detail, a shadow, a highlight? Embellish and enhance your quilt top with paint. Learn simple techniques that will bring 3-D life to your quilt image. In the first half of this one day class you'll put together a small fused quilt and in the second half use it as your canvas with textile paints. Ever wonder what to do with those "Splotchy" fabrics? The ones that have multi-colors/value/texture. This is the class in which to use them.

Both workshops are appropriate for all skill levels and do not require prior painting experience. No sewing machine required.

Workshop Policy – To reserve a space in a workshop, you need to pay the treasurer 50%
of the total workshop fee. The rest of the fee has to be paid on or
before the workshop. No refunds will be given unless the workshop is
cancelled or you can find a replacement. It is not the guild's
responsibility to find a replacement for you.
