Machine Quilting Workshop with Debby Brown

All-day workshop for HAVQG members Saturday, November 4, 9:30 am – 4 pm.

Debby Brown, of Debby Brown Quilts, has been quilting for 30+ years and is an award-winning quilter who has published quilts, patterns, books, and articles/columns in major quilting magazines. She teaches at national and international quilting shows, has filmed HQ Sweet 16 instructional DVDs, and has taught multiple machine quilting classes on Craftsy, Annie’s Creative Studio, Annie’sCatalog.com, as well as self-promoted online classes.

Debby loves working with new free-motion quilters because she shows that they can succeed with just enough encouragement.  Debby is obsessed with the precision of ruler quilting on domestic, sit-down, and long-arm machines, and spices up those lines with whimsical free-motion quilting that appeals to quilters of all skill levels.

Debby’s all-day workshop will be divided into two half-day classes: First is “Line ‘Em Up.” Debby will show you step-by-step and stitch-by-stitch what you need to know to start machine quilting and will teach several different patterns that can easily be stitched on your unfinished quilt tops. Yes, you can machine quilt!

The second half-day class is “Take a Walk Around Your Quilt.” Stitching an edge-to-edge design on your quilt sounds easy, but where do you start? And how do you keep from getting lost? Debby will answer these questions while teaching you strategies for stitching various patterns over a quilt on a home sewing machine. Bonus: we’ll talk about feathers!

The cost will be $50. This workshop will be held at our regular meeting location, the South Congregational Church in Amherst. You can sign up at next in-person meeting!

NOTE: In the event of inclement weather, the Guild president will decide by 9 a.m. that morning whether or not to hold a meeting. A cancellation will be announced on NEWS40 Storm Trackers WGGB-TV and on this website.
